Documentary 'Black Fish'

Blackfish documentary
Story: The story of this documentary is about a killer whale called tilikam who was accused of attAcking and killing a trainer called Daun. It is also about the general behaviours of killer whales both in captivity and out of captivity. It shows how fisherman used to hunt the baby killer whales and separate them from their mothers, and how similar killer whales are to human in behaviours for mothering their babies, and in fact he psychological damage that can be caused by separating them from their young, the whales in the wild would used tactics in working together to hide their babies from the fisherman. It is also about how the press tried covering the killing of Daun and went from blaming the whale to blaming her to save sea world, it covers the history of all of whale killing and also the injuries made at sea world by the whales, and makes the audience aware that the trainers are not aware of all of these injuries in the past until the happening of Daun which was unexplainable, it
shows the power of the killer whale and how captivity can drive a whale to committing murder and also hurting themselves and the other whales around turning them aggressive, which is not known in the wild to happen as the whales have more space in the ocean to swim. It also includes information on how a whale in captivity can differ in behaviour with the other surrounding whales, for instance in the wild, the whales get on as they have plenty of space to rome and get away from other whales when stressed, where as in captivity the whales cannot escape the stress by going alone therefore forcing them to behave aggressively, This theory is backed up with real footage to demonstrate the ways in which whales attack, for example the worst case included is when a whale teethed the main artery in another whale
from stress which resulted in the other whale bleeding to death, it also includes facts showing whales act more aggressively towards humans in captivity than in the wild as proven with real footage again the worst case scenario being when a whale jumped over another whale being ridden and hit the whale trainer, which resulted in the trainers body being held together only by the wetsuit.
Narrative: The narrative to this feature documentary 'blackfish' used single interviews with all of the trainers showing only the trainer on screen talking to the camera, it also includes real footage of all the events being mentioned of both whales attacking other whales and between whales and people, it shows the injuries that other whales got from other whales, mainly the injuries that tilikam endured from the female whales that attacked him, which he should have been separated from, but wasn't due to how much his semen was worth. It also includes Footage of all the killer whale and trainer shows presented at sea world, the narrative also includes pictures of the papers explaining the incident
involving daun and tilikam, and pictures showing the documents of all the injuries to trainers from killer whales. There are also pictures of seaworld itself and all of the whale pools. The narrative also includes footage of the whales in the ocean being captured by the fisherman, and pictures of the fisherman dumping the baby deceased whales back into the ocean to sink their bodies, animations presenting how the whales attempted escaping the fisherman were also made.
Agency: The agency have gone about this by interviewing the whale trainers individually asking for their preference on the situation involving Tilikam the whale and the killing of the trainer Daun, the trainers also went on to saying what they thought happened, and what daun was like and their feelings about working there, and being with the whales, the agency also went about this by adding and finding footage of the incident involving Tilikam and Daun's attack, and also footage of other incidents involving whales and humans, and whales with other whales, the agency also used footage of the fisherman and interviewed one of the fisherman that has fished for baby killer whales. Videos of the whales in shows were also put into 'Blackfish'.
